The Abuse of Astrology in History - A Fight To Stay In Power

Astrology has a long and storied history, dating back thousands of years. It has been used to provide guidance, insight, and understanding into the human experience. However, throughout history, astrology has also been subject to abuse and oppression, often out of fear.

One of the earliest examples of astrology being used for abuse comes from ancient Rome. During the Roman Republic, politicians used astrology to gain an advantage over their opponents. They would consult with astrologers to determine the best time to make important decisions and appointments, which gave them an advantage over those who were unaware of the astrological forces at play.

In China, during the Han Dynasty, astrology was used to identify potential threats to the ruling class. The Emperor's astrologers would identify those individuals who were believed to have the potential to rebel against the ruling class, based on their astrological chart. Those who were identified as potential threats were either imprisoned or executed, purely based on their astrological profile.

In the Middle Ages, astrology was also used in medicine, which ultimately led to poor and ineffective treatment. Astrologers were seen as medical experts, and their advice was often sought for the treatment of ailments. However, the use of astrology in medicine was based on the belief that the alignment of the stars affected health and well-being. This led to many ineffective treatments and ultimately perpetuated the idea that certain individuals were inherently more healthy or ill based on their astrological profile.

The persecution of astrologers during the Renaissance period is also a notable example of the abuse of astrology. Many astrologers were labeled as heretics and were punished for their beliefs. This led to the suppression of astrology as an accepted field of study, and many practitioners were forced to hide their knowledge and practice in secret.

During World War II, astrology was also used for propaganda purposes. In Nazi Germany, astrology was used to promote the superiority of the Aryan race. Astrologers were enlisted to identify those with superior astrological charts and were used as propaganda tools to promote Nazi ideology.

In India, astrology has been used to justify discrimination against certain castes. In the country's caste system, individuals were often forced to marry within their caste, based on their astrological chart. This led to discrimination against those who did not fit into the traditional caste system and limited their opportunities for marriage and companionship.

Astrology has a complex and often turbulent history, and it has been used for both good and bad purposes throughout the ages. While astrology can provide insight and understanding, it is important to approach it with a critical eye and to recognize its potential for abuse and oppression. By understanding the history of astrology and its potential for abuse, we can use this knowledge to promote its responsible and ethical use in the future.
